ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the risk of anastomotic leakage (a complication where the connection between two sections of the intestine leaks) after surgery for right colon cancer. Specifically, the researchers want to find out how often this happens, what factors might increase the risk, and how to predict if a patient might experience this issue after their surgery. The study involves multiple hospitals across Italy, coordinated by experts in colorectal surgery, and aims to gather important information that could help improve patient care in the future.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be 18 years or older and have a diagnosis of primary right colon cancer that requires surgery. This includes patients with cancer in areas such as the cecum and ascending colon. However, individuals with certain conditions, like long-term steroid use or inflammatory bowel disease, cannot participate. Those who join the study will provide consent and will have their health monitored before, during, and after surgery to collect detailed information about their experience and any complications that arise. Importantly, the study does not involve any new treatments; it simply observes the outcomes of patients receiving standard care.
