ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how improving oral care can help prevent a type of pneumonia known as nosocomial pneumonia in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) who are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Researchers believe that taking better care of the mouth can help reduce harmful germs that can cause lung infections, especially in patients with COPD who are experiencing acute breathing difficulties.
To participate in this study, patients must be diagnosed with COPD and admitted to the ICU needing assistance with breathing, such as through a special mask or high-flow nasal tubes. Unfortunately, those who refuse to take part or have severe organ failures won’t be eligible. Participants can expect to receive guidance on improving their oral hygiene, which may help their overall health and recovery. This trial is currently looking for volunteers, and all patient ages are welcome.
