ClinConnect Summary
The Jockey Club Precision Prevention Programme is a community-based study aimed at detecting and preventing young onset diabetes in adults aged 18 to 44 who have at least one risk factor for diabetes, such as obesity, a family history of diabetes, or high blood pressure. Participants will provide a saliva sample for DNA testing and a small blood sample, and complete a questionnaire. Based on their results, they will be classified as either high or low risk for developing diabetes. Those identified as high risk will have regular check-ups and special support to help them manage their health better over two years.
If you qualify for this study, you'll receive personalized feedback about your health risks from healthcare professionals. You'll also have access to educational webinars to help you make healthier choices. The high-risk group will get additional tools and support, including consultations with healthcare providers, workshops, and even subsidies for medications or health devices to encourage positive lifestyle changes. This program not only aims to track how well participants do but also looks at how effective and accessible the program is for the community.
