ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how effective two different types of hyaluronic acid (a substance that helps lubricate joints) are in treating problems with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which connects your jaw to your skull. The study will involve patients aged 17 to 70 who are experiencing painful symptoms like jaw pain, difficulty chewing, or joint locking, and who have not found relief from other treatments.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must have pain in one or both TMJ areas or around the ear, and they should not have muscle-related TMJ disorders or any bleeding issues. Those who join the study can expect to receive either high or low molecular weight hyaluronic acid through a procedure called arthrocentesis, which involves removing fluid from the joint and injecting the treatment. The study is currently recruiting, so if you or someone you know fits these criteria, it could be a good opportunity to explore new treatment options for TMJ disorders.
