Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (Tens) Nudging Multimodal Analgesia Postoperative Pain Management

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a method called transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) to help manage pain after urological surgeries. TENS uses small electrical impulses to relieve pain, which can decrease the need for opioids and reduce their side effects. Although TENS has shown benefits, it is not commonly used in hospitals. This study aims to encourage healthcare staff to use TENS more by providing education and support, ultimately helping patients have a better recovery experience after surgery.

To participate, patients must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for a urological procedure that requires anesthesia. The study is open to all staff in the hospital department where the trial is taking place, but certain individuals may not be eligible, such as those who are pregnant, have specific medical devices like pacemakers, or have a history of substance abuse. Participants can expect to receive TENS treatment as part of their pain management plan, along with the support of trained staff throughout the process.
