ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, titled "Knowledge and Habits of Pregnant Teens," is investigating how understanding health information, weight gain during pregnancy, and the weight of newborns are connected for teenage mothers. The study will take place at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and will involve 50 pregnant teenagers between the ages of 13 and 19 who are less than 20 weeks along in their pregnancies. Participants need to be able to understand English, have access to a smartphone or the internet, and plan to deliver their babies at UMMC. Those with certain health issues, such as diabetes or current substance abuse, will not be eligible to join.

If selected to participate, you will complete a questionnaire about health literacy—essentially how well you understand health-related information—at the beginning of the study and again after eight weeks. You'll also track your eating habits twice a week using a simple online tool. Additionally, participants in the intervention group will have access to a private social media group where they can share experiences and support each other throughout the study. This trial is designed to help improve health outcomes for pregnant teens, and your involvement could make a difference for both you and your baby.
