ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of attention-focused training can affect physical performance and cognitive function in older adults. Researchers want to understand if paying attention in certain ways during exercise can help improve balance and walking ability, which are important for preventing falls and maintaining independence. The study will involve 60 healthy participants aged 65 and older, who can walk independently for at least 40 meters. To be eligible, participants should have a good cognitive score and be able to read and write.
During the trial, participants will be placed into one of four groups: two groups will focus on their attention in different ways while exercising, one group will not focus on attention at all, and the control group will not participate in the training. Those in the exercise groups will meet twice a week for 12 weeks under the guidance of a trained physiotherapist. Before and after the training, their physical performance and cognitive abilities will be assessed through various tests. This study is important because it could help identify effective ways to enhance the safety and mobility of older adults.
