Quality Of Recovery Cesarean Section Fasting Duration

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how the length of time a patient fasts before an elective cesarean section (C-section) affects their recovery after the surgery. Specifically, the researchers want to see if fasting for 6 hours without solid food or 2 hours without clear fluids makes a difference in how well patients feel and recover in the first day after their C-section. Patients will be asked to answer 11 questions about their recovery 24 hours after the surgery, and various factors will be monitored to understand their impact on the recovery process.

To participate in this trial, women who are scheduled for an elective C-section under spinal anesthesia may be eligible. However, those who cannot communicate in French or English, need an emergency C-section, or are planned to have general anesthesia will not be included. If you decide to take part, you can expect to share your experience about your recovery after the surgery through a simple questionnaire. This study aims to improve the overall recovery experience for future patients undergoing C-sections.
