ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a healthy Nordic diet might help patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) by reducing the buildup of plaque in their arteries, which can lead to serious heart problems. The diet focuses on foods rich in healthy fats and fiber, like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Researchers want to see if following this diet for 18 months can improve heart health by looking at changes in plaque volume, inflammation, and even the bacteria in the gut that might influence heart disease.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between 50 and 80 years old, have had a heart attack or stable chest pain within the last six months, and have a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 40. If you join, you'll be randomly assigned to either follow the healthy Nordic diet or continue with your usual eating habits. Throughout the study, your heart health will be monitored using advanced imaging techniques, and your gut health will also be evaluated. This trial not only aims to discover if the diet can help improve heart health, but it also looks at whether certain individuals respond better to the diet based on their unique gut and metabolic profiles, paving the way for more personalized treatments in the future.
