ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the best ways to treat neonatal jaundice, a common condition where newborns have high levels of bilirubin, which can lead to serious health issues if not treated. The researchers want to find out if increasing the intensity of light therapy (a standard treatment) is more effective and whether giving this therapy continuously or in cycles (with breaks) works better for the babies. They will involve 116 newborns who are over 33 weeks old and weigh more than 1800 grams, ensuring they don’t have any other serious health problems.
Parents of eligible babies will have their children receive light therapy for 12 hours using a special blanket and overhead lights. After treatment, parents will fill out a survey about their experiences. This study is important because it aims to find the most effective and comfortable way to treat jaundice, which could help strengthen the bond between parents and their infants and support breastfeeding. The trial has been approved by the Regional Research Ethics Committee and is not yet recruiting participants.
