ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a condition called ventriculomegaly, which is an enlargement of the brain's fluid-filled spaces that can occur after a head injury. The study aims to find out how common this condition is in patients who have experienced a head trauma and whether they need a specific treatment called cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) diversion. This treatment helps drain excess fluid from the brain. The researchers will track patients who have undergone a CT scan of the head after their injury to see how many develop ventriculomegaly and need surgical intervention within the first six months after their trauma.
To be eligible for this study, patients must have shown signs of ventriculomegaly on a follow-up CT scan taken between two weeks and six months after their injury. However, those whose initial scans showed this condition or who develop it too soon or too late after their trauma will not be included. The trial is currently not recruiting participants, but once it begins, eligible individuals can expect close monitoring and evaluation to help understand the best ways to manage this condition after a head injury.
