ClinConnect Summary
The CACHE Study is looking at heart disease in men with haemophilia, a condition that affects how well blood clots. Although people with haemophilia are less likely to die from heart disease, researchers want to understand why and how ageing might change this. They will use a special type of heart scan that creates detailed images to see how fat and plaques build up in the heart's blood vessels. By comparing these images from men with and without haemophilia, the study aims to learn more about the heart health of those with this condition.
To participate in this study, you must be a male aged 45 or older, diagnosed with haemophilia A or B, and have low levels of factor VIII or IX. Participants will need to agree to undergo scans and provide consent for the study. If you join, you can expect to have your heart health studied closely, which may help improve treatments for heart disease in people with haemophilia and even lead to better heart health strategies for everyone.
