ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how two different treatments—dry needling and myofascial massage therapy—affect people with Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ). TMJ can cause pain and limited movement in the jaw, making it hard to open your mouth fully. The trial will take place over six months and will involve 24 participants aged between 25 and 45 who have specific symptoms, including reduced mouth opening and muscle pain in the jaw.
To be eligible for this study, participants must have TMJ dysfunction and be able to open their mouths less than a certain amount (39 mm for men and 36 mm for women). They should also experience mild to moderate pain and have a particular score on a TMJ-related questionnaire. Those who have certain conditions, have had jaw surgery, or are unable to consent will not be included. Participants can expect to have their pain and jaw movement evaluated at the beginning, after one week, and again after three weeks. This trial aims to find out which treatment may be more effective in helping people manage their TMJ symptoms.
