ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how eating walnuts alongside a high-fat meal may affect women who are both obese and have type 2 diabetes. Specifically, the researchers want to see if walnuts can help reduce inflammation and stress in the body, which can be harmful for people with these conditions. The trial will involve women over 18 years old who have a body mass index (BMI) of over 30 and a diagnosis of non-insulin-dependent type 2 diabetes. Those who have certain health issues, like heart or kidney diseases, or who have taken specific medications recently, will not be eligible to participate.
Participants in the study will visit the clinic after fasting for 10 hours and will be given a high-fat meal either with or without 30 grams of walnuts. After a break, they will switch groups so everyone experiences both meals. Blood samples will be taken to check for various health markers. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to provide valuable insights into how walnuts might help manage obesity and diabetes.
