ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying whether providing healthy food to pregnant women can help prevent excessive weight gain during pregnancy. Researchers want to find out if women who receive food support, along with standard nutrition counseling, will gain less weight compared to those who only receive the usual care. The trial will include about 400 pregnant women who are attending special CenteringPregnancy classes, and they will be divided into two groups. One group will get the usual pregnancy care and $500 after delivery for baby items, while the other group will receive the same pregnancy care plus $1,000 during pregnancy specifically for buying healthy foods.

To be eligible for this trial, women should be between 16 and 44 years old, currently pregnant, enrolled in the CenteringPregnancy program, and able to speak English, Spanish, or Marshallese. Participants will be asked to complete surveys at different points during their pregnancy and after giving birth to help researchers understand the impact of the food support. This trial is currently not recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable information on how food assistance can support healthy weight gain during pregnancy.
