ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a medication called dexmedetomidine on patients with high blood pressure who are undergoing elective surgery and need a procedure called endotracheal intubation. Intubation involves placing a tube in the airway to help with breathing during surgery. The trial aims to see if dexmedetomidine can help reduce anxiety, improve the ease of intubation, and lower heart rate and blood pressure during this process, making it more comfortable and safer for patients.
To participate in this trial, patients must be over 60 years old, have been diagnosed with hypertension for at least six months, and be scheduled for surgery under general anesthesia. However, those with severe health issues, emergency surgeries, or specific complications related to intubation are not eligible. Participants can expect to receive dexmedetomidine before their intubation, which may help them feel more relaxed and reduce the need for additional medications, ultimately lowering the risk of complications during the procedure.
