ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a connection between two problems that can occur in people with Parkinson's disease: freezing of gait, which is when a person has difficulty starting or stopping movements while walking, and oropharyngeal freezing, which affects swallowing. The researchers want to see how common oropharyngeal freezing is in patients who experience gait freezing and to understand the similarities between these two conditions. They believe that finding this link could help improve early detection and treatment for swallowing difficulties, which can lead to serious health issues like aspiration pneumonia.
To participate in the study, individuals must be diagnosed with Parkinson's disease by a neurologist and be over 18 years old. People with certain other neurological conditions or those who cannot swallow orally are not eligible. Participants will complete questionnaires and undergo tests to assess their movement and swallowing abilities. By joining this trial, participants may contribute to important findings that could enhance the care and quality of life for others with Parkinson's disease.
