ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to give pain relief to patients who are having keyhole surgery to remove their gallbladder, a procedure known as laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The study aims to see whether injecting a local anesthetic into the abdominal muscles or squirting it onto the liver after surgery is more effective in reducing pain afterwards. Local anesthetics are medications that help numb the area where the surgery took place, making recovery more comfortable.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult aged 18 or older who is scheduled for this type of surgery. If you meet these criteria, you may be invited to join the study. If you do, you can expect to receive one of the two methods of pain relief after your surgery. It's important to note that the local anesthetic being used is already approved for use in Ireland, so it’s not a new or experimental drug. The goal is to find the best way to help manage pain after surgery, ultimately improving your recovery experience.
