ClinConnect Summary
The FEAST Perinatal Support Program (PSP) is a clinical trial designed to help improve the health of pregnant Latino individuals and their babies by promoting healthy eating habits. This program recognizes that many Latino families face challenges during pregnancy that can lead to health problems for both the parent and the child. Through this trial, researchers will test a new support program that includes education on nutrition, practical skills for healthy eating, and social support, along with grocery gift cards to help participants buy fresh, healthy food. The study will involve 40 pregnant women, mostly Latino, who will be randomly placed into either the support program with the gift card or a group that will receive the program later.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be currently pregnant, able to read and speak English, and experiencing their first pregnancy. They should also qualify for certain food assistance programs like EBT or WIC. Participants can expect to attend in-person sessions where they will receive support and resources aimed at improving their diet and overall health. The goal of this trial is not only to help these individuals during their pregnancy but also to gather information that can improve future health programs for Latino families in Southern California.
