ClinConnect Summary
The MAKE-It Pilot Trial is a study designed to explore whether a personalized diet can help adolescents who are struggling with depression. Researchers believe that what we eat can influence our mood, and this trial will test a specific eating plan that includes healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains. The goal is to see if the study can successfully recruit participants, keep them involved, and if they find the dietary changes acceptable.
To be eligible, participants must be between the ages of 12 and 17, have a diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and score a certain level on a depression scale. They also need to have access to the internet and a device like a computer or smartphone, and a parent must be willing to take part in the study as well. Participants will be guided through the dietary changes and will have the opportunity to share their experiences throughout the study. It's important to note that those who already eat a very healthy diet, have eating disorders, or are involved in other weight-related programs won't be eligible for this trial.
