ClinConnect Summary
The PREVISION Study is a clinical trial aimed at understanding how certain non-invasive tools can help predict if patients with breathing difficulties will need more intensive support. Specifically, it looks at patients who are using high flow nasal cannulas (a type of oxygen delivery system) or non-invasive ventilation (a mask that helps with breathing). The researchers want to find out if measuring how well air moves in different areas of the lungs can help identify those at risk of needing more help with their breathing.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and currently using non-invasive ventilation or high flow nasal cannula in the hospital. However, if you have certain conditions, like chronic CO2 retention or a tracheostomy, you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you'll undergo some assessments to help the researchers gather valuable information about your breathing and lung function. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it has the potential to improve care for patients experiencing respiratory failures in the future.
