ClinConnect Summary
The "Long-term Effects of Family WISH Program for Adolescents with Congenital Heart Disease" clinical trial is studying how a special program called Family WISH can help teenagers with heart defects. This program encourages families to walk together, aiming to improve the teens' health, happiness, and family bonds over time. Participants will join either the Family WISH program, which includes guided walking and support, or a comparison group that receives basic walking information. By walking together for about 20-30 minutes daily, five times a week, and keeping a diary of their walks, the teenagers will help researchers understand the long-term benefits of this approach.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be between 12 and 18 years old and have been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect before the age of 2. They should have a mild to moderate heart condition and have parents or guardians who can communicate in Mandarin. Those with severe heart issues or recent heart surgeries may not qualify. Participants can expect to complete surveys at the beginning of the study and again at 6, 12, and 24 weeks to track their progress and experiences. This trial is not yet recruiting, so there will be more information available soon for interested families.
