ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Central Venous Catheter vs Midline in Difficulty Access Patient - Pilot Trial," is exploring the best way to help patients who have a hard time getting intravenous (IV) access, which is often necessary for medication and blood tests during hospital stays. The study will compare two types of catheters: a Central Venous Catheter (CVC), which is inserted deeper into the body, and a Midline catheter, which is shorter and placed in the arm. The goal is to see if using Midline catheters can be a safer and more effective option for patients who struggle with traditional IV access.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be 18 years or older and have experienced difficulty with IV access in the past. This can mean they've had multiple unsuccessful attempts to insert a standard IV or have veins that are hard to see or feel. The study is currently recruiting participants and is looking for people who will need the catheter for 4 to 29 days. Those interested can expect to help researchers understand the best methods for managing IV access, which could improve comfort and care for many patients in the future.
