ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) to help make dressing changes less stressful for children with burn injuries. Changing dressings can be a very upsetting experience for both kids and their parents, so the trial aims to see which technology—AR or VR—works better in distracting children during this process. This is important because distraction can help reduce pain and fear, making the treatment easier for everyone involved.

To participate in this study, children must be aged between 4 and 17 years and must be visiting the burns clinic for the first time with a burn that needs a dressing change. Their parents or guardians must be willing to consent to their involvement. Participants will be able to use either AR or VR during their dressing change to see which one helps them feel more comfortable. It's worth noting that children with certain conditions or those who have had previous negative experiences with VR/AR technology may not be eligible. This trial is still in the planning stage and has not started recruiting participants yet.
