ClinConnect Summary

The Oral Surgery Virtual Reality Glasses Study is a clinical trial designed to see if wearing virtual reality (VR) glasses can help patients feel calmer and less pain during certain dental surgeries that require sedation. The study will compare two groups: one group will wear VR glasses that show relaxing videos and sounds, while the other group will wear standard safety glasses that don’t provide any entertainment. The main goals are to find out if the VR glasses make patients more comfortable during the procedure and if they help reduce the amount of sedation needed.

To participate in this study, patients must be scheduled for oral surgery that requires intravenous (IV) sedation and be able to understand how to use the VR glasses. They should also be in good health, without certain conditions such as severe hearing or visual impairments, and should not have used any substances like alcohol in the previous 24 hours. If you or a family member are interested, please know that the study is not yet recruiting participants, and a legal guardian must accompany minors. Participants can expect to be randomly assigned to one of the two groups and will receive care in a safe and supportive environment throughout the trial.
