ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new method to help treat patients with ureteric stones that could not be reached using a common procedure called semi-rigid ureteroscopy. The researchers will be testing a medication called aminophylline, which will be gently placed directly into the ureter (the tube that carries urine from the kidney to the bladder) through a stent. This approach aims to help access and treat the stone without needing a more invasive technique called balloon dilation.
To participate in this study, you would need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have experienced difficulties accessing a stone with semi-rigid ureteroscopy. Unfortunately, younger patients, those who already have a stent in place, and individuals with certain medical conditions or sensitivities to aminophylline won’t be eligible. If you join this trial, you can expect to receive close monitoring and care throughout the process, and your involvement could contribute to finding a better way to treat ureteric stones for future patients.
