ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how effective certain scoring systems can be in deciding whether children who have experienced trauma really need a whole-body CT scan. Whole-body CT scans help doctors see if there are any injuries, but they can expose kids to a lot of radiation, which is a concern. The goal is to use scores like the Pediatric Polytrauma CT Indication Score (PePCI) and the Manchester Trauma Imaging Score (ManTIS) to help determine which kids actually need these scans, potentially reducing unnecessary exposure to radiation.

To be eligible for this study, children who come to the emergency department with trauma and are being monitored in the "red zone" (the area for serious cases) can participate, as long as their legal guardians give consent. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and it will take place in Türkiye. Parents can expect that their child will be assessed using these scoring systems to see if a CT scan is truly needed, which could help make trauma care safer for kids.
