ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to evaluate carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) using ultrasound technology. CTS is a condition that affects the wrist and can cause pain, numbness, and weakness in the hand. The study will involve 20 patients aged 18-75 who have been diagnosed with CTS within the last three months, alongside 20 healthy volunteers who do not have CTS. Researchers will gather information about participants' age, gender, and other health details, and assess hand strength using special tools. They will also use ultrasound to look at certain muscles in the hand and the median nerve, which is often affected in CTS.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be between 18 and 75 years old and have a recent diagnosis of CTS. Healthy volunteers are welcome too. However, people who have had surgery for CTS, have certain nerve or muscle diseases, or have other specific health issues will not be able to participate. The study is not yet recruiting participants, but if you join, you can expect a thorough evaluation of your hand strength and an ultrasound examination. This research aims to improve understanding and treatment of CTS, which could help many people in the future.
