ClinConnect Summary
This is a large clinical trial in Singapore that is testing different ways to encourage women to get a mammogram, which is a breast cancer screening test. In short, researchers will randomly assign about 9,000 eligible women aged 50–69 to one of five groups: a simple reminder by mail (the control group) or one of four enhanced approaches (a small financial voucher, a chance to win a lottery, a short health video from an influential person, or help from a personal health concierge to schedule the test). About 3,000 additional women will be in a non-intervention group that receives no reminders. The goal is to see which approach leads to the most women getting a mammogram within roughly 3–4 months after the start.
Eligible participants are Singaporean women 50–69 who have not had a mammogram in the past two years, are patients at National University Hospital, and use the OneNUHS app (and are enrolled with Healthier SG). Women with a prior breast cancer diagnosis or who had a mammogram in the last 24 months are not eligible. If you participate, you’ll receive mail reminders and, depending on your group, you may get a small voucher, a lottery chance, a short health video in multiple languages, or help scheduling from a concierge. Afterward, researchers will survey a subset of participants and analyze which method works best and whether it could be a cost-effective way to improve screening rates on a larger scale.
