ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how the muscles in the jaw, specifically the masseter muscle, are affected by a dental condition called acute apical periodontitis. This condition occurs when a tooth is decayed for a long time, which can cause the surrounding muscles to become weaker and smaller because they aren't being used as much. The researchers will use ultrasound technology to measure the size of these muscles before and after treatment, helping to understand how effective the treatment is.
To participate in this trial, individuals need to be at least 18 years old and have acute apical periodontitis, along with at least four functional back teeth. Participants should not have any major health issues, jaw problems, or recent dental work. Those who join can expect to have their muscle size measured using ultrasound, and they will receive treatment for their dental condition. The study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable insights into muscle recovery after dental treatment.
