ClinConnect Summary
The Folic Acid Salt Study (FISFA Zambia) is a clinical trial aimed at understanding how effective iodized salt that is fortified with folic acid can be in improving folate levels in women of reproductive age in Zambia. Folate is an important nutrient that helps prevent certain birth defects and supports overall health. In this study, women who are not pregnant or breastfeeding will replace their regular salt with this special salt for six months. Researchers will check their blood and gather information through surveys to see how well the fortified salt works in increasing their folate levels.
To participate in this study, women must be between 18 and 45 years old, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and willing to take part voluntarily. They should either live alone or with someone who can help them follow the study rules. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it will provide valuable information on how dietary changes can support women's health in Zambia.
