ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well anesthesiology residents explain information to patients during their preoperative visits. Specifically, it aims to see if patients understand the details about the anesthesia approach for their upcoming surgery. The study is currently recruiting participants, and it includes adults aged 18 to 75 who are scheduled for certain types of minimally invasive surgeries, like gallbladder or appendix removal. To be eligible, patients should be in good health (ASA I-II) and must not have had general anesthesia before.
Participants in this study can expect to have their pre-anesthesia visit as usual, where they will receive information from the anesthesiology resident. Researchers will then assess how much of that information the patients understand. It's important to note that those who have visual or hearing impairments, or who can't understand the communication, won't be included in the trial. Overall, this study aims to improve how information is shared between doctors and patients, making sure everyone is on the same page before surgery.
