Eligibility criteria

• Inclusion Criteria:
• • 1. Adult (18+) ED/observation unit patients
• • 2. Have poorly controlled or new onset diabetes (hyperglycemia or Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA))
• • 3. Speak English or Spanish
• • 4. Has a cell phone able to send and receive text messages
• Exclusion Criteria:
• • 1) Intubated patient
