ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different types of anesthesia for patients undergoing a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which is a surgery to remove the gallbladder. The goal is to see how well opioid-free anesthesia works compared to traditional opioid-based anesthesia in managing pain after surgery. This is important because, while laparoscopic surgery is generally less painful than open surgery, patients can still experience issues like pain, nausea, and vomiting afterward. By exploring alternatives to opioids, the researchers hope to find safer and more effective ways to manage pain.
To participate in this study, you need to be an adult between the ages of 18 and 65 who is scheduled for this type of surgery. You should be in generally good health, as defined by specific medical guidelines. However, individuals with a history of drug or alcohol abuse, chronic opioid use, certain heart conditions, allergies to the medications being tested, severe kidney or liver problems, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot join the trial. If you decide to participate, you can expect to receive either opioid-free or opioid-based anesthesia during your surgery and be monitored for pain levels and any side effects after the procedure. This research could help improve recovery experiences for future patients.
