ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new tool designed to improve the care of patients on mechanical ventilation in intensive care units (ICUs). It focuses on reducing complications known as ventilator-associated events (VAEs), which can happen when a patient’s breathing support needs change unexpectedly. The tool, called the Respiratory Knowledge Portal, helps healthcare teams track important information about ventilation and alarms, aiming to make it easier for them to follow best practices and improve patient outcomes.
To participate in this trial, patients must be receiving mechanical ventilation in one of the monitored ICUs at the Galveston campus and can be between the ages of 0 and 100. Participants can expect that their care team will use the Respiratory Knowledge Portal to gather data and enhance the quality of their ventilation support over a few months. This trial is important because it aims to not only improve patient safety and health but also to determine if using this software is a worthwhile investment for hospitals.
