ClinConnect Summary
The PREVENT HPV-Related Cancers trial is a study aimed at increasing the rates of HPV vaccination among children and teenagers aged 9 to 17 in rural areas of Washington. The researchers want to find out which strategies can effectively encourage parents and caregivers to get their children vaccinated against HPV, a virus that can lead to certain cancers. This study will involve outreach efforts at community clinics, where parents and caregivers will receive tailored information based on their input and feedback. Additionally, the researchers will conduct interviews with participating families and healthcare staff to understand their experiences and any challenges they face regarding vaccination.
To be eligible for this trial, parents or caregivers must have children aged 9 to 17 who have been seen in the clinic within the past year and can communicate in English or Spanish. Excluded from participation are those whose children have already completed the HPV vaccination series or have specific medical conditions affecting vaccination recommendations. Participants can expect to receive support and information about the vaccination process, and their feedback will help develop best practices for future vaccination programs. This study aims to make a significant impact in reducing the rates of HPV-related cancers in rural communities.
