ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how patients with a heart condition called degenerative mitral valve prolapse make decisions about their treatment options. Specifically, it looks at two types of procedures: traditional surgical mitral valve repair and a less invasive procedure called transcatheter edge-to-edge repair. The goal is to gather insights from both patients and healthcare providers about what matters most to them when choosing between these treatments. The findings will help create helpful tools to support patients in making informed choices and to improve communication within their healthcare teams.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 21 years old and diagnosed with degenerative mitral valve regurgitation, which is when the heart's mitral valve does not close properly. Unfortunately, if you do not speak English, cannot give consent for yourself, or have had previous mitral valve surgery, you won't be eligible for this trial. If you decide to join, you can expect to share your experiences and opinions, which will contribute to better decision-making tools for patients like you in the future. This study is currently recruiting participants of all genders.
