ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how symptoms relate to a condition called mitral regurgitation (MR), which happens when the heart's mitral valve doesn't close properly, causing blood to flow backward. The researchers want to understand if certain heart issues, particularly diastolic dysfunction (when the heart has trouble filling with blood), might explain why some patients feel symptoms even when the severity of their MR doesn't seem that high. They are looking for insights that could help doctors better decide when surgery is necessary for patients with MR.
To participate in this study, individuals need to be at least 18 years old and have a specific type of mitral regurgitation known as primary or degenerative MR. They should have a good heart function and be able to exercise on a treadmill. Participants will undergo various tests, including heart imaging, and will be closely monitored throughout the study. This trial is currently recruiting male participants between the ages of 65 and 74, and it aims to improve our understanding of how heart function and symptoms are connected in patients with MR.
