ClinConnect Summary
The Autism Genomics Sweden trial is studying how providing genetic information about autism and related conditions, like ADHD and depression, can help young people better understand their situations and feel more empowered. In this study, participants aged 15 to 30 years will be divided into two groups: one will have a detailed 1.5-hour session with a genetic counselor, while the other will receive general information through a leaflet. The researchers will ask participants questions before and after these sessions to see how well they understand their condition and to check on their mental health.
To join the trial, participants need to be between 15 and 30 years old, live in Sweden, and be willing to understand questions in Swedish. They should also be interested in learning about genetic counseling related to autism. However, individuals who do not want to complete the surveys or participate in the counseling sessions won’t be eligible. This study hopes to uncover how mental health factors like anxiety and depression might affect the benefits of the information provided, which could lead to better support for young people with autism.
