ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the amount of muscle a person has, measured from preoperative CT images, affects the dosage of a medication called rocuronium used during surgery. Rocuronium helps to relax muscles, which is important for surgeries that require general anesthesia. The researchers want to see if there is a link between a person's muscle mass and the amount of this medication needed to keep the muscles relaxed during the surgery.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults scheduled for elective colon surgery and in good health, as defined by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (classes 1-3). They must also agree to participate and have a routine preoperative CT scan. However, people who are pregnant, have certain kidney problems, or take medications that influence muscle relaxation will not be included. Those who join the study can expect to have their muscle mass assessed before surgery and to help researchers understand how muscle affects medication needs in surgery.
