ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how much food and protein patients with breathing difficulties are getting while they receive noninvasive ventilation, which is a type of treatment that helps people breathe without using a breathing tube. The main goal is to find out if these patients are consuming enough calories and protein during their treatment. Participants will keep a food diary for five days to track what they eat starting from when they begin this breathing support.

To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old and be hospitalized for acute respiratory failure, meaning they are having serious trouble breathing and need noninvasive ventilation within 24 hours of being admitted. However, patients who are receiving palliative care (focused on comfort), cannot eat for medical reasons, or are admitted for surgeries or specific gut-related issues won't be included. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to gather important information that could help improve nutrition for patients undergoing this type of treatment.
