ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a condition called mitral annular disjunction in patients who have mitral valve prolapse, which is when the heart's mitral valve doesn't close properly. The study aims to understand how common this condition is in patients with severe mitral regurgitation, where blood leaks backward into the heart. It will take place at Assiut University Heart Hospital and is not yet recruiting participants.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults over 18 years old who have been diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse and have severe mitral regurgitation. However, individuals who have had previous mitral valve surgery, have certain other heart conditions, or have poor-quality heart images will not be included. Those who participate can expect to undergo assessments to help researchers learn more about the link between these heart conditions and the risk of arrhythmias, which are irregular heartbeats.
