ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help manage pain after a specific type of lung surgery called Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS). While VATS is less invasive than traditional surgery and generally leads to quicker recovery, some patients still experience significant pain afterward. The researchers want to find out if a method called Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), which is based on principles from acupuncture, can effectively reduce this postoperative pain compared to a placebo treatment (a sham stimulation that does not work).
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for a lobectomy surgery using VATS for lung cancer. You should also be in good overall health (physical status of I-III) and able to give informed consent. However, if you have certain medical conditions, such as serious heart or brain issues, or if you have a history of chronic pain or are using pain medications daily, you may not be eligible. If you join the study, you will receive either the TENS treatment or the placebo, and the researchers will monitor your pain levels after your surgery to see how well the treatment works. This study aims to improve pain management options for patients undergoing lung surgery.
