ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how well patients with hip osteoarthritis are able to use oxygen during physical activity, both before and after they have hip replacement surgery. Researchers will measure a specific level called VO2 max, which indicates the maximum amount of oxygen the body can use during exercise. Instead of having participants perform physical tests, they will use non-exercise methods to gather this information. The study aims to provide insights that could help improve recovery and rehabilitation for patients undergoing this type of surgery.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for a total hip replacement at Nuffield Hospital. Both men and women are eligible, but women who can become pregnant need to agree to use effective birth control during the study. Participants will need to give written consent to take part and should be able to complete follow-up assessments after surgery. It’s important to note that this trial is not yet recruiting participants, so those interested will need to wait for it to begin.
