ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how treating diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) can improve heart function in patients with diabetes. Diabetic foot ulcers are wounds that can develop on the feet of people with diabetes, and they can lead to serious complications, including heart issues. The researchers want to see if a special heart test called strain echocardiography can detect early changes in heart function more effectively than the standard test, especially in patients who are receiving treatment for their ulcers.

To participate in this study, individuals must be diagnosed with diabetic foot ulcers by a vascular surgeon and be between the ages of 18 and 50. They should also be using diabetes medications or have high blood sugar levels. However, people with certain serious health conditions, such as severe heart or kidney problems, are not eligible. Participants will undergo heart function tests and receive treatment for their foot ulcers while the researchers monitor any improvements in their heart health. This trial is an important step in finding better ways to detect and treat heart problems in people with diabetes.
