ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on addressing a serious health issue known as the double burden of malnutrition, which affects many families in Guatemala. This situation includes mothers who are overweight or obese and children who are not growing properly (known as stunting). The study aims to see if providing support and counseling for mothers about maintaining a healthy weight, along with offering food supplements to families, can help reduce these problems in rural communities.
To participate in this trial, women must be pregnant and less than 28 weeks along, be at least 16 years old, and willing to give their consent to join the study. It’s important to note that women with a history of certain health issues, like diabetes, or those who are further along in their pregnancy, will not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to receive guidance on healthy eating and access to food supplements, which could make a positive difference for both you and your child.
