ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is designed to investigate whether a method called continuous Erector Spinae Plane Block (ESPB) can help reduce pain after surgery for patients undergoing unilateral thoracotomy, which is a procedure to access the chest. The study aims to find out if this technique can lower pain levels, delay the need for pain medication, decrease the amount of opioids needed in the first two days after surgery, and improve the quality of recovery within 48 hours.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be between 21 and 65 years old and scheduled for a unilateral thoracotomy. Those who have certain health conditions or who are not suitable for local anesthesia or opioids may not qualify. Participants will either receive the ESPB or a different pain management method after their surgery and will be asked about their pain and recovery during follow-up visits. This trial hopes to gather important information that could help improve pain management for future patients.
