ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to treat large urinary stones using a method called percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). Traditionally, this procedure requires a series of steps that can take a lot of time and increase the risk of infection. The trial is testing a technique where patients are positioned on their stomachs (known as the split-leg prone position) for the entire procedure, allowing doctors to remove the stones without needing to change positions or insert a catheter first. This approach could make the surgery faster and more straightforward, but it also presents some challenges that the researchers want to explore.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between 18 and 70 years old and have urinary stones that are between 2 and 7 centimeters in size. It’s important that you have not had previous surgeries on your kidneys or have certain anatomical issues, like having a horseshoe kidney. If you join the study, you'll be closely monitored to see how effective and safe this new technique is compared to traditional methods. This research could help improve the way kidney stones are treated in the future, making the process easier for patients.
