ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a surgical procedure called carotid endarterectomy (CEA), which is used to treat patients with a condition known as carotid stenosis. This condition involves narrowing of the carotid arteries, which can lead to serious issues like strokes. The goal of the trial is to assess how safe and effective this surgery is for patients who have symptoms related to their carotid stenosis.
To participate in the study, patients need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have significant narrowing of their carotid artery (more than 60%). However, those with mild stenosis or other specific conditions would not be eligible. If you join this trial, you can expect to undergo a thorough evaluation to determine your suitability for the surgery and receive close monitoring throughout the process. It's important to know that while CEA aims to prevent strokes, there are some risks involved, including potential complications like strokes during or after the procedure.
