ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the connection between sarcopenia, which is the loss of muscle mass and strength as people age, and the strength of both peripheral (limb) and respiratory (breathing) muscles in older adults. As more people are living longer, understanding how muscle health affects overall well-being is becoming increasingly important. The researchers want to learn more about how weak muscles in the arms and legs relate to weak breathing muscles, as this information could help improve health outcomes for elderly individuals.
To be eligible for the study, participants need to be between 65 and 80 years old, able to understand and participate in the study, and registered at the Çanakkale Municipality Golden Years Life Center. However, individuals with a history of respiratory diseases, certain serious orthopedic issues, or dementia, as well as smokers, will not be included. Those who join the study can expect to undergo assessments of their muscle strength and may answer questions to help researchers evaluate their condition. This research is important as it aims to fill a gap in our understanding of how muscle health impacts the elderly, potentially leading to better care and support for this growing population.
